Respect the Principle.
The principle of respect for person makes clear the individual has moral status and that the wishes and interest of the individual must be taken seriously in moral analysis. The principle of respect for persons thus divides into two separate moral requirements; The requirement to acknowledge autonomy and the requirements to protect those with diminished autonomy. This principle leads to the requirement of informed voluntary consent. Respect means that you accept somebody for who they are, even when they're different from you or you don't agree with them. Respect in your relationships builds feeling of trust, safety, and wellbeing. Respect doesn't have to come naturally-it is something you learn. Respect for person may perhaps be the most fundamental principle in all of ethics. Respect (full) calls on each and every one of us to respect the intrinsic dignity of all other people. If something is intrinsic to us, it is essential to our being and cannot be earned. It is a property of being a person. Respect is positive social attention. Respect is fundamental for successful human interaction. All of our work proceeds more effectively and successfully when we work with respect. The other three characteristics of the RAFT detailed below-accountability, fairness, and transparency-all come back to respect.
