Self - Connection

Your relationship with yourself involves self-awareness, self-acceptance, and self-care, among others. It impacts your mental and emotional health and your bonds with other people. A healthy relationship with yourself can improve mental health, connections, and eve work productivity. According to Julie Hanks (LCSW),"a healthy relationship is the ability to value yourself as a person and embrace your strengths and weaknesses. Being able to provide yourself with emotional support you need, being able to look out for your wellbeing, and prioritizing yourself when the situation calls. Everyday take a look in the mirror and say something kind about yourself! Flexible planning is a great way to honour your boundaries; you can make a plan and be able to go with your flow. Some days we need more time or are running behind. Communicate honestly about what you're able to commit to. Self-connection is knowing about and accepting who one perceives one truly is should theoretically lead to an increase in a sense of coherence across one's life and allow for actions that are in support of one's values and goals or purpose. Having a strong relationship includes communicating clearly, listening actively, cooperating, resisting inappropriate social pressure, negotiating conflict constructively, and seeking and offering help when needed. Building healthy relationships involve honesty, trust, respect, and open communication between partners and they take effort and compromise from both people. There is no imbalance of power. Partners respect each other's independence, can make their own decisions without fear if retribution or retaliation, and share decision.
